Terms of use
The ground rules between Lessonstick and you: what the service does, what you agree to do, and what we do on our side.
Version of October 1, 2026.
The service
Lessonstick is an online service published by Jules Charles (see the legal notice). It helps you review private language lessons: it organizes your lesson notes with the help of artificial intelligence, turns them into exercises and a mission to do before your next lesson, and offers a Lesson mode to use during the call. A teacher space lets a teacher follow their students’ reviews, with the students’ consent.
Lessonstick doesn’t teach lessons, doesn’t match you with teachers, and doesn’t handle booking or payment for lessons.
By using Lessonstick, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Minimum age
You must be 15 or older to use Lessonstick and create an account. By accepting these terms, you confirm that you are at least 15.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 15, we may delete it.
Your account
Your account is tied to your email address: to sign in, you get a one-time code, with no password. You’re responsible for access to your inbox, and for what is done from your account.
Use an address that belongs to you, don’t share your account, and let us know if you think someone else has access to it.
What you agree to
Use Lessonstick to learn or teach a language, in a way that respects the law and other people. In particular:
- don’t send content that is illegal, hateful, or that infringes anyone’s rights;
- don’t send sensitive data unrelated to your lessons, such as an ID document, health data or bank details;
- don’t try to get around the AI usage limits, access other accounts’ data, or disrupt the service;
- don’t use bots or scripts to use the service at scale, and don’t resell it.
Your content
Your notes, photos, lessons and answers remain yours. You only allow us to store, process and display them to run the service: organize them, turn them into exercises, sync them across your devices and, if you choose, show them to your teacher.
Only send what you have the right to use: your own notes, or notes your teacher gave you.
What we do with your personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
Artificial intelligence
Organizing and prepping lessons, and correcting spoken answers when you ask for it, rely on artificial intelligence (Claude, by Anthropic). It can make mistakes: a word misread, a loose translation, a rule poorly explained.
Check what it suggests before saving, and fix it if needed: the app is built for that. When in doubt, your teacher has the final word.
AI use is limited per day and per account, so the service stays available to everyone.
Sharing with your teacher
You can link your account to a teacher, by inviting them or accepting their invitation. They then see your lessons in the language they teach you, your mission and your mistakes, without being able to change anything. You can stop sharing at any time from your profile.
Your teacher doesn’t act on behalf of Lessonstick or under its responsibility: your lessons are between the two of you.
The teacher space
A teacher can open a free space to invite their students and see, before the lesson, where they stand. They agree to use what they see only to prepare their lessons with the student concerned, not to copy or pass it on, and to respect a student’s decision to stop sharing.
A teacher never sees their students’ email, the notes they take during the lesson, or their lessons in other languages.
Pricing
During the beta, Lessonstick is free, for students and teachers alike. The teacher space will stay free.
A paid subscription may be offered to students later. It will have its own terms of sale, to accept before any payment: you’ll never be charged without your consent.
Availability
We do our best to keep Lessonstick available and working well. But the service is still evolving: it may be interrupted for maintenance, change, or go down, including at our providers (hosting, AI, email delivery, notifications).
Reminders depend on your device, its settings and notification services: a reminder may arrive late, or not at all.
Keep a copy of what matters to you: your lesson notes remain the reference.
Liability
Lessonstick is a review tool: it doesn’t guarantee a level or an exam result.
To the extent permitted by French law, we are only liable for direct damage caused by our fault. This doesn’t cover indirect damage, such as a lost opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.
Suspending and deleting accounts
You can delete your account at any time from your profile (“Delete my account”): your account and all its data are then permanently erased.
We may suspend or delete an account that doesn’t follow these terms, after warning you by email when possible, or immediately in case of serious abuse (a threat to the service’s security or to other people’s rights).
If we shut the service down, we’ll let you know at least 30 days in advance, so you can ask us for a copy of your data.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the service evolves. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
If there’s a significant change, we’ll tell you in the app, and you’ll need to accept the new version to keep using your account. You can also delete it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law.
If there’s a disagreement, write to us first: we’ll look for an amicable solution. If you’re a consumer, you can also turn to a consumer mediator free of charge, or go to the competent court under consumer law.
